Watch: Our View
Our View segment of The Zevin Newsroom by Chanan Zevin, 3 November 2026. Watch on YouTube · Full edition in The Zevin Intelligence Journal
This is opinion, the view of The Zevin Newsroom.
The Iran war has entered its most dangerous phase. Both sides are talking peace while their fingers stay on the trigger.
Overnight, American jets reportedly hit Iranian targets on Qeshm Island, even as Washington says a deal is coming together and Tehran says the ball is in America's court.
Markets have already voted for diplomacy: oil fell almost eight percent on Monday on peace hopes alone.
Today's midterm elections are the hinge. Whatever the result, the decision that follows, a deal or a return to war, will shape the Gulf, oil and Israel's next government more than any ballot.
Our view: both capitals should bank the progress before the window closes.
